Serena Williams Has A Pulmonary Embolism


Serena Williams, 29, underwent emergency treatment at Cedars for a hematoma she suffered as a result of treatment for a more critical situation on Monday. Her rep says, “Last week, Serena suffered from a pulmonary embolism [a blood clot in the lungs] which was discovered upon her return to L.A. She had been in New York for doctor appointments for the ongoing issues with her foot.” “Doctors are continuing to monitor her situation closely to avoid additional complications.” Serena and her family are in my thoughts and prayers. May she have a speedy recovery.

Tisha Campbell-Martin Has Sarcoidosis

Tisha Campbell-Martin has sarcoidosis…she’s not dying as reports have said. Sarcoidosis is the lung disease that also claimed the life of Bernie Mac in 2008. Campbell-Martin says that she’s had the disease for almost 10 years but through early diagnosis, a good diet and exercise, she’s been able to control the usual ailments associated with the disease.

Justin Bieber Rushed To The Hospital


While on set this week filming for his encore appearance on CSI, Justin ended up having to be rushed to the hospital. He was taken to the Providence St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, California because he was having trouble breathing due to an allergic reaction. His doctor met him there. He stayed at the hospital about 30 minutes and was discharged.

Aretha Franklin Has Pancreatic Cancer

It’s being reported that the queen of soul, Aretha Franklin, has pancreatic cancer. We will keep her and her family in your prayers! A week after undergoing surgery for a mystery illness, the National Enquirer reports that the famed singer has incurable pancreatic cancer.The surgery, labeled a success, came under mysterious circumstances when she canceled all concerts through May 2011 due to “medical reasons.” The Enquirer’s report lists pancreatic survival rates at 5-10%, and even lower for someone of Franklin’s age and weight. 

UPDATE: WJBK FOX 2 News in Detroit confirms that Franklin has cancer.

Aretha Franklin Is Recovering From Surgery


The Queen Of Soul, Ms. Aretha Franklin is recovering from surgery that she underwent this morning. In a statement she said the “surgery was highly successful. God is still in control. I had superb doctors and nurses whom were blessed by all the prayers of the city and the country. God bless you all for your prayers!” She did not reveal the nature of her illness or the type of surgery. She was instructed by her doctor to cancel all appearances until next year. I hope she has a speedy recovery.

Toni Braxton Has Lupus

Toni Braxton reveals she suffers from Lupus at the Women in Achievement Awards for the 8th Annual Bag Ladies Luncheon befitting Lupus awareness, Toni Braxton stunned the crowd when she told them, "Take a look, this is what lupus looks like," as she accepted her award. Lupus is a chronic autoimmune connective tissue disease that can affect any part of the body. As occurs in other autoimmune diseases, the immune system attacks the body’s cells and tissue, resulting in inflammation and tissue damage. Toni, an American Heart Association spokeswoman, also suffers from pericarditis, an inflammation of the heart lining that has left her prone to high blood pressure and heart palpitations. Poor thing, in addition to being broke she is also in poor health.
